First United Reformed Church of Oak Lawn
Preparing for Corporate Worship - Sunday, June 08, 2025
Services at 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM
Dear Friends,
I pray you have had a good week and are each doing well. How has God directed you this week? What have you experienced? Did you learn something new, endure a trying time or enjoy a new blessing? In all things He keeps us in the palm of His hands and we have reason to praise Him!
-MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE
That praise will be experienced corporately on the Lord's day and we will spend this coming Lord's day focused on the "end times." Our Lord's supper form has this language: "Finally, the remembrance of our Lord's death revives in us the hope of His return" Much more is there and we will spend our morning sermon in Revelation 1.7, 8
------------------------
Scripture Reading: Revelation 1.1-8
Confessional Reading: Belgic Confession 37 paragraph 1
Text: Revelation 1.7, 8
Message: “The Certainty and Results of His Return”
Theme: The return of Christ will cause ecstatic joy and woeful dread
The cause of this joy and dread is:
1. The certainty of His return
2. The visibility of His return
3. The perceptibility of His return
4. The reliability of His return
---------------------------------
EVENING WORSHIP SERVICE
Our afternoon sermon (after the fellowship meal in the basement) on Revelation 20.11-15 exploring these "last things" with help both times from Belgic Confession Article 37. I pray you will find great help and comfort (or warning and caution) from these two texts, morning and afternoon.
Responsive Reading of 1 Thessalonians 4.13 – 5. 11
Scripture Reading: Revelation 20.11-15
Confessional Reading: Belgic Confession 37 paragraphs 2-5
Text: Revelation 20.11-15
Sermon: “He Returns to Judge the Living and the Dead”
Theme: The August Judge declares the eternal reality of all people
1. This Judge is high and lifted up
2. This judgment will include every single person
3. This judgment will be based on facts
4. This judgment, once made, is absolutely final!

--------------------------------
As the Lord continues to strengthen our faith in the truth of His Word we have more and more reason for heart-felt joy and more to tell our neighbors who live nearby but who are far from Jesus Christ. The Lord IS coming again and when He returns there will not be one moment more for them to repent and believe - today is the day of salvation! Let's come to His house on Sunday to be further instructed in these vital things.
I hope we can see one another in church Sunday. In either case, let's keep praying for one another in these challenging days.
So we have important and helpful truths to fill our hearts this Lord's day. Pray with me that our God would be very kind to us and grant us what we need.
Please pray for one another and for our gathering to celebrate the salvation given to us by Jesus Christ. May the Lord bless and care for each of you and your family members.
Please pray that all would be done to the glory of the Lord and for our good. Pray for strength
May our kind and strong God bless and keep each of you toward the Lord's day upcoming.
Please pray that each ear will be open, all hearts soft to receive, and our hands and feet and mouths ready to respond to all our God tells us.

---------------
Would you all commit to pray for the peace of the Lord to calm the hearts of those who are facing some turmoil and challenge right now? As we know, the enemy is ever busy trying to draw our attention away from the joy of the Lord in the salvation Jesus has won for us. Pray that Jesus would increase in all things in our minds and hearts!
May you have a fruitful day and a joy about returning to the house of the Lord!
It will be a blessing to see you in church. Let's pray that the Lord is glorified in our gathering together and we each are edified in Christian truth
May each of you know His great mercy!
May the Lord receive the honor and glory from everything we do.
May the Lord richly bless each of you as you prepare for the Lord's day.
--------------
Please be much in prayer for worship on the Lord's day
---------------
There is no better place to be on Sunday!
